This is a 19th century four of hearts playing card with square corners and no indices (no numbers in the corners). Back design: an uncommon portrait of Shakespeare featuring the "All the world's a stage" speech, taken from the play As You Like It. The design includes a lengthy quotation from the monologue by the character Jacques. The portrait shows William Skespeare (Shakspear) from the waist up, holding a small, leafy twig. The design shows Shakespeare's depiction of the life cycle mankind, encapsulated on the back of a playing card.
