An atmospheric series of 10 images of iconic pastoral scenes in springtime in the quiet North Western corner of the English Lake District. These images of the South Downs were taken near to the Long Man of Wilmington. The pictures include the Long Man himself, this being an ancient giant figure carved into the chalk hillside. Then on the hill above him are various burial mounds (Tumuli), and mysterious Neolithic earthworks! The distant range of hills towards the West includes Firl Beacon. The South Downs stretchers from Eastbourne to Winchester and is England's newest National Park. I took these photos fairly early on a spring morning, and was lucky enough to enjoy some beautiful golden sunshine, whilst interspersed with some very interesting cloud formations.
