Antique photograph of Seven Dials junction in London as it was in the late 19th century. It is a small circular square, a road junction of seven streets in Covent Garden in the West End of London. In the picture the square, busy with people and carriages, with its buildings with pubs and shops of a district tha was quite poor (now it's a fashionable shopping district).

The bank was located first in Mercers' Hall and then in Grocers' Hall, but was moved to its location on Threadneedle Street in the 1730s. It had become the largest and most prestigious financial institution in England, its banknotes widely circulated.

"Scanned directly from an original Georgian print by Thomas Hosmer Shepherd, published in 1829.This engraving of 'Regent's Park' was drawn by Thomas H Shepherd and engraved by W Wallis, from 'London and its Environs in the Nineteenth Century'.Thomas Hosmer Shepherd (1792aa1864) was an artist well known for his architectural works, he was employed to illustrate architecture in London, and later Edinburgh, Bath and Bristol. Shepherd's work is characterised by an attention to detail, along with life-like scenes that contained people, carriages and horses."

The Swan with Two Necks a coaching inn in the City of London. Until the arrival of the railways, was one of the principal departure points for travel to the north of England from London. Its site was given over in the early 1860s to a goods and parcels depot for a firm of railway agents and carriers.

The current Palace of Westminster in London, more commonly known as the Houses of Parliament, was built in the Gothic Perpendicular style between 1840-70 to replace the former building which was destroyed by fire in 1834. It is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. From “The Life of Victoria - Our Queen and Empress - Simply Told for Children” by Mrs L Valentine. Published in London and New York by Frederick Warne & Co in 1897, the Diamond Jubilee of Queen Victoria’s accession to the throne. The building would still have been considered ‘new’ when this book was published.
